SIGMA Announces the F/1.4 Mirrorless Trio Prime Lenses for Fujifilm X Mount

· 21.February.2022

SIGMA Corporation has announced the release of three DC DN Contemporary prime lenses aka ‘the F1.4 Mirrorless Trio’ for the Fujifilm X Mount. The 16mmF1.4 DC DN Contemporary, 30mmF1.4 DC DN Contemporary, and 56mmF1.4 DC DN Contemporary will be available from SIGMA Authorized Dealers beginning in April of 2022 for the North American market. SIGMA plans to expand the X Mount line-up in the near future, including a tentatively scheduled release date of December 2022 for the recently released 18-50mmF2.8 DC DN Contemporary lens. All these lenses are currently available in four other mounts (Sony E-mount, Canon EF-M mount, Micro Four Thirds mount, Leica L-Mount).

For current Fujifilm X Mount photographers, some of SIGMA’s lens acronyms and terms might be unfamiliar. DC are lenses specifically designed for cameras with APS-C sensors. DN are lenses designed “for exceptional performance on mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras with a short flange back distance”. SIGMA’s Contemporary series of lenses feature their latest technologies, balancing optical performance with compactness.

According to SIGMA, these new X Mount lenses are more than just mount conversions to the Fujifilm system: “Control algorithm including AF drive and communication speed optimization has been developed specifically for X Mount interchangeable lenses. In addition to realizing high-speed AF, the lens also supports AF-C (Continuous AF) and in-camera aberration correction*. The mount is rubber-sealed to cater for use in a variety of environments.” In addition, mount conversion service will be available to convert other mounts of SIGMA 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, SIGMA 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary and SIGMA 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary to the Fujifilm X Mount. Please contact your local authorized SIGMA Service Station for further details.

SIGMA is one of Japan’s premiere third-party lens manufacturers, producing lenses in various mounts, including Canon EF, EF-M, Leica L, Micro Four Thirds, Nikon F, Pentax K, Sony E, Sony A, in addition to Cine lenses, digital cameras, as well as their own proprietary sensor technology. It will be interesting to see if SIGMA will make available their professional Art and Sports lenses in addition to the Contemporary series for the Fujifilm X Mount.
