Our cover contributor for this month is Ethan Barber, who is chatting to Stephanie Baxter in this month’s interview about how his love for architecture and New York City led to a career that now centres around capturing its magic through photo and video. He explains why he thinks New York holds a fond place in many people’s hearts and shares some tips for photographing the city.
Take Kayo brings us his latest instalment of Take’s Corner, where he considers how the GFX system might be upgraded in light of the new 40MP APS-C sensor of the X-H2 and X-T5, suggesting that a new sensor might also be in order for the GFX.
Meanwhile, Nils Leithold gives us an inside look into his X100V project and shares how the limitations of shooting only with the X100V during a sabbatical trip in southwestern Europe rekindled his passion for photography . Next up is Ean Flanders with this month’s photo essay entitled ‘’The Descendants’, a series of portraits of creatives, artists and activists of African and Caribbean heritage in Liverpool, U.K., which seeks to document their lived experiences of working in the city.
Laurie Cohen reflects on finding purpose in street photography and how the Fujifilm X Series have found a permanent place in his camera bag. As usual, we also have our monthly ‘From the Feed’ feature, where we’re sharing four popular images from #myfujilove on Instagram, posted by David Cape, Elena Nechaeva, Karl Twigg and Jef Janis.
Continuing her ‘Creative Vision Behind the Lens’ series, Valérie takes us behind the scenes of more of her favourite photographs, giving us invaluable insight into her creative process for taking each one.
We’re also thrilled to bring you our ‘Gear Talk’ section of FujiLove Magazine, starting with Rico Pfirstinger, who is delivering his next instalment in his camera settings series that shows you how to best set up and make the most of your X cameras while avoiding common pitfalls along the way, this month moving on to the SHOOTING SETTING menu. Piet Van den Eynde, meanwhile, walks us through the ins and outs of the new Capture One loyalty program, which seems to have caused somewhat of a stir among users. Next up is Lee Varis, who is getting creative with light painting brushes and showing us how he used them to create some wonderfully colourful images. Rounding off the January issue is Dylan Goldby with a deep-dive into the XF16mmF2.8, expanding upon the thoughts he shared when covering this lens for January’s Lens Guide.
Happy reading!
