Our cover contributor for this month is Valérie Jardin, a long-time friend of FUJILOVE who is chatting to Stephanie Baxter in this month’s FUJILOVE interview about how spontaneity underpins her work, the importance of limitations for her photography and her love for the X100 series of cameras.

Take Kayo brings us his latest instalment of Take’s Corner, where he looks back at the X Summit and FUJIKINA events held in NYC last September before looking ahead to this year’s equivalent events being held in Stockholm on 12th and 13th September respectively.

Ferry Knijn explains how discovering the beauty of taking horizontal portraits with wide-angle lenses changed his approach to portrait photography. Next up is Peter-Paul de Meijer with this month’s photo essay entitled ‘Nachtwerk’, which explores the captivating interplay between light and shadow in scenes captured at night, while Anete Lusina documents a trip to the Austrian Alps with the X-T3, explaining her approach to capturing images in what can be a tricky environment to photograph in.

As usual, we also have our monthly ‘From the Feed’ feature, where we’re sharing four popular images from #myfujilove on Instagram, posted by Shimizu Akira, Michiel Heijmans, Olivier Depaep and Paul Bundy

Continuing her article series, ‘The Spirit of Landscape Photography’, Karen Hutton, discusses the importance of ‘the feels’ in landscape photography, what they can do for transforming your images and how to incorporate them consistently into your work.

We’re also thrilled to bring you our ‘Gear Talk’ section of FujiLove Magazine, starting with Rico Pfirstinger, who is delivering his next instalment in his camera settings series that shows you how to best set up and make the most of your X cameras while avoiding common pitfalls along the way, this month concluding his exploration of the buttons and dials settings menu.  Next up is Piet Van den Eynde with a process walkthrough of one of his favourite environmental portraits that he shot while teaching a travel photography workshop in Papua New Guinea, while Bobbi Lane kicks off a two-part article series that takes a look at the Tamron 17-70mmF2.8 and 18-300mmF3.5-6.3 lenses. Rounding off the issue is Dylan Goldby, who concludes his own two-part article series on what to look for in a budget lens, comparing the TTArtisan 17mmF1.4 with the XF18mmF1.4 and the 7artisans 35mmF1.2 with the XF35mmF1.4.

Happy reading!
